Maryam Salami is an Iranian architect, researcher, interior designer, and builder. She received her Master’s degree in Architecture in 2015 and began her professional career in 2005, while still studying architecture, working simultaneously as a design and executive architect at the age of 20.From 2005 to 2014, she collaborated with several renowned national and international architecture studios, contributing to large-scale residential, commercial, and office projects across different contexts.During this period, she gained extensive experience in research, design development, detailing, and on-site execution, working alongside architectural offices and multidisciplinary teams both locally and internationally.In 2014, she founded Olay Architecture Studio, establishing her independent practice. From the beginning, her approach diverged from the dominant architectural direction in Iran, evolving toward sustainable, human-centered, and socially responsible design. Her work has been recognized and awarded in multiple international architectural competitions.Her approach is deeply rooted in ancient cultures, symbols, climate, local and sustainable materials, passive systems, and traditional climatic strategies reinterpreted in a contemporary language. With a strong focus on emotional and experiential space-making, her context-based design philosophy forms a forward-looking architecture that responds to climate, site conditions, and cultural context with respect to both nature and human life.She approaches architecture as a cultural and environmental dialogue and seeks collaborations aligned with humanitarian values, sustainability, climate resilience, and design innovation.Her design approach is defined by a continuous dialogue between tradition and innovation, where architecture becomes a tool for cultural continuity and environmental responsibility.With the aim of creating architecture that is resilient, deeply rooted in context, and fundamentally connected to both people and place.
